FINAL
TASK ( module 5 )
ACTIVITY:
Creating a story using Storyboard That about Mythology
PLANNING:
2 sessions of 1 hour and a half
The
main objective is to learn to use Storyboard That for creating a
comic about Greek Mythology.
DESIGN:
The teacher explains about the Digital Tool. First of all, the
teacher uses the Interactive Blackboard to show how to create a
simple comic strip. Then, the class is organised in groups of 4-5
sharing a laptop and they start using it and trying. The objective is
to become familiar with the different tools and characteristics of
the website. Once the doubts and problems have been solved, it´s
time for teamwork and the groups must start by a sketch of the story
and afterwards create the comic strip with Storyboard That and save
the product. The task is over after sharing the different comic
strips and all the students read and comment on the productions. We
can exhibit them on a board at the corridor and on the class blog.
IMPLEMENTATION:
The groups are formed by 5 students. The activity has been very
motivating and they have been very concentrated on the task. The
teacher´s role is providing help when necessary. During the class,
they show great interest on what they are doing and ask questions
about some features ( e.g.: how to save the comic strip, how to
change “poses”... ). They seem to enjoy the task intensely and
are eager to use the tool on further occasions.
ASSESSMENT:
I use Kahoot to assess the task through:
- A comprehension test about Mythology.
- A survey about the task to assess the motivation or difficulty of the tool and the results.

Here are some of the productions of my students. They write in Spanish but it could be easily done in English. I hope you like it!
I used Kahoot to assess Reading Comprehension and the knowledge about Mythology. That was very motivating too.
The only problem was using the tool without logging in and I found out how to solve the problem. Once the comic strip was done, I pressed Alt + imp Pt. Then, I opened Paint to Edit the image and cut everything but the comic strip. Finally, I save it as a jpg. And that was it! Now my students can create a Storyboard without logging in or creating an account.
